Happy New Year! What to expect in 2022…

I hope everyone has had a safe and sane end of 2021! The last few years have been very trying for everyone and I hope 2022 will see relief for those most impacted.

As a new year ramps up, I wanted to do some house keeping and let y’all know what to expect from me in the coming months and the year to come as a whole.

Possible changes to scheduling again
Some additional opportunities may be on the horizon for me which will force me to seriously evaluate how I spread my time over commission work, personal life and other work. I have no details or predictions at this moment, but I want to put out there that there will be a possibility that my schedule or possibly the manner in which I produce commissions may change early this year if certain (good and highly anticipated) things work out. I will keep everyone abreast as I know more and changes become necessary.

Updating my TOS/User Agreement
In the coming weeks I’ll be putting the finishing touches on this year’s Terms of Service. Not a lot has changed, but I wanted to clarify some language and also put more emphasis on the prohibition of using any artwork for NFT/Blockchain purposes. In a Nutshell: do not do it ❌

Updating watermark
Just the usual updating of the watermark cor artworks. For ease of use, I’ll be using the old style with updated date for the time being, but may change up the style a little later in the month.

Price increase likely
Oof, no one likes to hear that. Thanks to inflation, a lot of ground I gained with my last price increase was lost. To be clear, I don’t think I’ll be making any moves until after I do taxes, when I can get a better picture of where I stand financially. While I don’t anticipate the increase being anywhere near as drastic as my last one, I have no estimate of what it might be at this moment. My hope is that it will be small and nominal, but a cost of living increase will be necessary across the board.

Evaluating last year’s commissions/clients
In tandem with reevaluating pricing, I will be doing an audit on works I’ve done over the year. While I do my absolute best to estimate the cost of doing a commission for everyone and accept as large a variety as I can, there are times where I grossly underestimate the cost or effort of certain works because of various factors. Because of this, I am giving myself permission to be pickier with what I choose to accept. It is clear that I have not been a good fit for some commissions, want to take those lessons into consideration going forward and I will be planning accordingly throughout the new year. To be clear, this is not going to effect the vast majority of people who have gotten commissions from me in the past nor those who may get something from me in the future. I will always do my best to make myself available to the widest audience that fits my terms, without sacrificing quality.

Updating graphics
Over the month I will be making some updates to some graphics, primarily to my stream layout and associated stream graphics.

That should do it for now! I hope everyone’s year will be better than the last and I look forward to what’s to come in 2022!
